Arkansas's Water-Use Registration Program provides protection to insure that the state's water resources are here for everyone to use, for centuries to come. In accordance with state laws, any non-domestic user of groundwater that has the potential to withdraw at least 50,000 gallons a day (35 gpm flow rate) or any user of surface water that withdraws 1 acre-foot (325,851 gals.) or more per year, must report their monthly withdraws between October 1 and March 1, each year, to the local conservation district. At the time of water use registration, each diverter and/or landowner was mailed a registration letter and crop information form to fill out and return to the office with payment either by mail or in person. Past due and late notices contact to get all the points registered by the dead line. The data collected was entered in the computer in cooperation with the Arkansas Soil and Water Conservation Commission via internet connection.

Please be prepared to pay $10.00 per well/relift.

Water Use Registration Information

For agricultural land leveling projects that conserve irrigation water, an income tax credit of 10 percent of the project cost is available. The maximum credit in one year is the lesser of the taxpayer's income tax due or $9,000. Unused credit may be carried over for a maximum of 2 years. An application must be approved by your county conservation district, then submitted to the Commission and approved before a taxpayer may begin construction of a project and claim credits. All projects must be maintained for a minimum of 10 years following issuance of the Certificate of Completion, or benefits will be subject to recapture. An application fee of three percent of the total approved tax credit must be paid, and there is a minimum fee of $100 and a maximum fee of $1,500.Taxpayers may be eligible for a tax deduction in an amount equal to the difference between the project cost and the credit used.

See your local conservation district for more information.

Beaver Control

Program

Since 1997 the State of Arkansas has funded the beaver bounty program. This program is designed to encourage beaver trapping due to the dams they build which block the flow of water in ditches and streams, causing water to flood onto farm fields and public roadways.

Beaver harvesters in Jackson County may turn in beaver tails to the JCCD office in return for beaver bounty. The bounty will only be paid to beaver trapped within Jackson County, and harvesters must present a valid trapping permit and photo identification.

There is a limit of 30 beaver per trapper. We take beaver tails the 1st Friday in December until funding is depleted. The district pays $15 per beaver. See Melanie at the JCCD office for more information/forms.

Cost-Share Programs

The Jackson County Conservation District has developed a conservation plan for the use and implementation of cost-share money which is a portion received from the annual water-use reporting. This money will be used to help purchase poly pipe.
